I laughed out loud many times ... my son just hollered from another room to see if I was OK - he thought I was crying - crying with laughter!
It really is a joy to read your stories, being transported to 1950's Calliope - thank you for sharing! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5722735165669239585.post-4558479738307818742010-10-15T08:04:35.063+11:002010-10-15T08:04:35.063+11:00Mum sewed well but wasn't especially fond of i...Mum sewed well but wasn't especially fond of it, so she pulled apart old things and made new garments. In those days you could also buy a big parcel of remnants from the big Brisbane stores and have them posted to you. That made any clothes for us kids. Mum made all my sisters' wedding and bridesmaids dresses.
Life was good for us in many ways and I am always grateful for that, especially family and 'village' life in Calliope. And how did she keep you all so beautifully dressed? I love these boyhood stories of yours...can't help wondering just how many children today have so good a childhood as you did.Julie Lakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10268676551467882065noreply@blogger.com
