Most of what you’ll read here is life and fun, with episodes from my past, amusing and serious. But I have an unwelcome stranger lodged in my brain, as you’ll find if you explore my stories. Our destinies are interlocked, but its deadly presence reminds me every minute that each day of life is a miracle. This is my space to reflect on life, and an interactive area where we can share our experiences freely. Without you, this blog has no reason for existence. Carpe Diem!

Each one very special.Thank you for those. I have a couple of more jokey (but oh so true) Mark Twain's for you:
ReplyDelete'Do not undervalue the headache. While it is at its sharpest it seems a bad investment, but when the relief begins ,the unexpired remainder is worth $4 a minute'.
And
'He had much experience of physicians, and said 'the only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd druther not'. :)
Both have too much truth in them to be comfortable! Mark Twain was an amazing guy. I pose this question: if a diet of raw kelp and *nothing else* guaranteed you would live to be at least 100, would you want to? :)
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean you have investigated the raw kelp option? Heheh. Because you are too smart to suggest it if it wasn't viable. I guess it has everything, nutritionally. Anyway, I bet that a few ingredients could be added and it would still be effective -eg sweet potato and fish -as in Okinawa. They do lots of physical work well into their old age, too.
ReplyDeleteCall me a dummy then, Julie, as I was using as an example the thing that would make me throw up if I ate it! It's not viable AFAIK, and I don't suggest anyone try it in the hope it's going to do anything useful.
ReplyDeleteNope, no additives allowed in my scenario! Funnily enough, we DO have grilled fish and sweet potato quite often, and enjoy it a lot. I guess I am really referring to quality of life.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.
ReplyDeleteI love this Mark Twain quote. Al Gore used it very conveniently!
