An attraction for golfers?

Viewing the blog statistics yields some odd results. The image shows how people got to the blog. This is useful to discover where the traffic is coming from. But I admit to being utterly bamboozled about this one!

It seems I should direct more of my postings to the golfing fraternity!

  1. If you have a look at the golf website, they have a few things going on. Any of these could cause this:

    - the golf site itself looks a little spammy. Unlikely, but it is possible to fake the headers. End result is that you (and I) checked out their website which equals more traffic

    - The site has a heap of Google Ads. Have you got any advertising?

    - On that web page is a "chat box". By the looks of it, literally anything can be posted (including a link back to your site)

Either way, the traffic volume is so low, I'd ignore it...

  2. Thanks, Christian. You're quite right, of course. I was just amused at the URL rather than taking it too seriously - but you do raise the interesting point about how an intelligent bit of mini-analysis like yours can reveal a great deal about web traffic.

I don't do any sort of advertising on my blog. It's just for family, friends, and interested strangers, all of whom are very welcome. It's ironic that it's one of the few sites I've curated over the years that probably could generate ad revenue, but I have no desire to do that.

  3. Hi Denis,

I read your truthful and heartfelt article on the ABC news website and then found your blog. I am sorry to hear about your tumour and the struggles that going along with your 'unwelcome visitor'. I want you to know I am praying for you, both for healing and for peace in the circumstance that have been thrust upon you.
My youngest son Sam was born with half a heart and we have seen many miraculous things take place in his life. He is now almost 3 and if you didn't lift his shirt to look at the scars upon his chest you would not know anything is wrong with him The doctors cannot not heal Sam's heart but I know the God who can.
I am encouraged by your strong will to enjoy life each day, because life is so precious.

    Bless you
    Nicole Watson

  5. I often wonder where all those visitors come from. Some sites you visit and there is no mention. Very mysterious. In the end it doesn't really matter as long as you don't get too many spammy commentators. Good luck with your struggles.

Thanks for your good wishes and let me say I am hoping that everything comes together to produce the best possible outcome.

Modern medical science has made much possible and young bodies are amazingly cooperative. I wish him a long and happy life and I am sure you've done all you can to make this possible.

    All the best!
